Wake up, get ready, take photos --Camilla's day in a nutshell. So as she was strolling down the sidewalk toward the Broadway Comedy Club, she was in a bit of a grumpy mood. Which, made her destination to the comedy club very appropriate. She was in dire need of a good laugh, after being around nothing but nature and strangers all day. Sure, photography was something she loved, and it was what she hoped would make her name known someday, but spending the whole day with a camera in hand could get insufferably boring. Though Camilla had her drivers license, she had never owned a car. When she was still in high school she would borrow her parents', but she never got around to buying one or asking for one after moving out. She figured that New York City was one of the most walkable cities in the country --if you knew where to walk, that is.
Camilla skillfully avoided the more sketchy areas of town, but of course sometimes got lost. Here, however, she knew where she was going. She didn't need to worry about making the wrong turn or anything, because the club was already in sight. She let out of huff of air, and it was visible from the cold night. Tightening her arms around herself, she quickened her pace until she was at the double doors of the club, relieved to get out of the cold. Camilla had always been more of a summertime weather gal. After paying the fifteen-dollar admission, she entered, her senses greeted by the smell of food, the sound of laughter, and a somewhat dimly lit room, the spotlight on a comedian who had already started. Great. She probably missed a little less than half the show, but by now, Camilla would have settled for a humorous conclusion. Uncrossing her arms she walked to the bar, where she ordered a Pepsi. Sure, she drank every now and then, but she felt that tonight would not be the best night to be caught for being underage.
After paying the bill she began to routinely sip on it, keeping her eyes open for a table in the audience. By a stroke of luck, a couple got up to leave and Camilla briskly walked over to the table, since it seemed to be the only one left. It probably wasn't, but her contacts weren't in and searching the dark audience seemed troublesome. As she arrived at the table, someone else had as well. Camilla had no problem sharing the table with a complete stranger, but she knew other people were awkward about that sort of thing. Why people found it awkward was beyond her, since it was just a couple of seats. "Mind sharing?" she asked person across from her, gripping the soda in her hand.
